Sam Rohrer will run for US Senate in 2012

Disclaimer: Sam Rohrer has not made an official announcement either way, nor has anyone inside his [possibly formulated] campaign. I do not have any insider connections with his staff from whom I got this information, I have come to this conclusion after research solely my own.

I believe that Sam Rohrer will shortly announce that he is running for US Senate in 2012 in a challenge to incumbent Democrat Senator Bob Casey. It will not be an easy battle. The former Berks county representative will first have to face off in a very crowded GOP primary, with no less than eight rivals. Rohrer has the advantage here – with his statewide name recognition, his activism in Tea Party and small government organizations and his well-known conservative stances on the issues – Rohrer is sure to garner up avid support quickly and early in this race.

Now you are wondering how I came to the conclusion Mr. Rohrer will be running. Below I have detailed how I came to that conclusion. But first I want to talk a little bit about Sam Rohrer’s record and why The Conservative Declaration will be endorsing him and cheering him on.

10th Amendment
Sam understands that the 10th Amendment was written to both to keep the size of the federal government as limited as possible and to protect the States from the federal government should it want to become heavy-handed and tyrannical. As a Pennsylvania lawmaker, he always worked to keep the powers of the federal government at bay and made sure they did not intrude into issues of the State. As a member of the federal government legislature, he will be able to make sure the feds mind their own business working from a top down approach.

2nd Amendment
In PA, Sam led opposition to statewide gun registry and pushed for the Castle Doctrine. He has shown that he does not compromise on our right to keep and bear arms – that is why he was always backed by pro-gun organizations during his tenure in the legislature.

Privacy & Property Rights
A very outspoken critic of the RealID program, Sam has proven that he believes that every Pennsylvanian [and American for that matter] has a right to their privacy and that the government has no right to obtain personal information without proper warrants. Rohrer is also a strong supporter of property rights, as evidenced by his support for elimination of property taxes here in the Commonwealth. As a federal legislator, he would not have sway over a state issue such as property taxes, but he will be able to fight other legislation that would infringe upon property rights and individual liberties.

How I Came to the Conclusion Rohrer is Running
Many of you will question this information, so to quell any questioning I will explain how I came to my conclusion:

After many anxious weeks awaiting an announcement from Rohrer, one way or the other, I decided I couldn’t wait any longer and I had to find out if he was in or out. The first thing I did was try to find a campaign website. This day in age, any candidate for a political office has to have a good website that is up and running as soon as they make their official announcement that they are in. So I headed over to Network Solutions and ran some WHOIS searches for possible campaign websites. I tried every obvious URL I could think of: SamRohrer2012.com, Rohrer2012.com, RohrerSenate2012.com, SamRohrerforSenate.com, RohrerforPA.com. All were coming up as unregistered domain names, then I hit one that worked – RohrerforSenate.com. Now if you visit that address, no website will come up yet, but the domain name has been purchased. Below is a screenshot of the WHOIS registration information for the URL.

As you can see, the domain was recently registered (October 28th). Logically, the next step is to figure out who the registrar is. After a little Google searching and digging, I came across the registrar’s LinkedIn page. In the work experience section of his LinkedIn page I saw his current position:

Now I had heard of Churchill Strategies before, but I couldn’t put my finger on where. I found their website and that didn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know. Then, on a gut instinct, I went to Sam Rohrer’s 2010 gubernatorial campaign website [which is still live on the internet at SamRohrer.org], and sure enough at the bottom of the page I saw this:

Sam Rohrer’s 2010 campaign site had been designed by Churchill Strategies. Now the Creative Director of that same design firm has bought RohrerforSenate.com. Now unless Churchill Strategies is dying for some work and has decided to preemptively purchase a domain name for a possible Senate candidate who may or may not run and who may or may not use the same design firm for his website this time…..I think it’s safe to say that they were contacted by Sam Rohrer to make the move.

We will continue to wait for the official announcement and campaign launch, but I thought I would share this information to put some fellow Rohrer supporters minds at ease!

UPDATE (11/4):
At noon today, I received an email letter written by Sam Rohrer in which he stated that he would be stepping down as PA State Director of Americans for Prosperity. This is further proof that Mr. Rohrer will indeed be running for the US Senate to defeat the liberal Democrat Bob Casey in 2012!
