Tom Corbett's No Tax Pledge Lie
Pennsylvania Republicans will be at a crossroads this November when they enter into the election booth. Will they vote their conscience, or for the establishment candidate? Back in the GOP Primaries, a political action group known as Americans For Tax Reform created a no tax pledge that said, in part, I will “oppose and vote against any and all efforts to increase taxes” AFTR then requested that all the major candidates of both parties sign the pledge. Tom Corbett initially said that he would not sign the pledge because he wasn’t going to rule out any possibilities. Soon there after Samuel E. Rohrer was asked to sign the pledge upon reading the pledge Rohrer promptly affixed his name to that document.
This circumstance became a talking point for PA conservatives across the state. In short order the Attorney General Tom Corbett contacted Americans For Tax Reform and asked to meet up with them so he could sign the pledge. Conservatives immediately spotted the wolf slipping in to his sheepish linens, but many Republicans fell for the decoy and said that Corbett had signed the no tax increase pledge. As all of you know Tom Corbett went on to win the GOP primaries.
Now on the campaign trail and participating in debates for the first time since his bid for governor his true colors are beginning to bleed through. Just last month in a debate with Democrat candidate Dan Onorato, Corbett was asked if he would consider raising the payroll tax. With little to no hesitation Tom Corbett blurted out, “I would look at the payroll tax and increasing the payroll contributions…” Then in an interview with a local news crew he said, “As long as we look at the option of a tax increase to cover the spending we will go that way.” Later his challenger called him out for breaking his no tax increase promise. Tom Corbett’s response was, “Listen, were not even going to get into that because my whole goal is to increase the jobs in Pennsylvania…” He was then asked if he thought a contribution increase was a tax increase and he said, “Talking about what is, or isn’t, that’s all hypothetical, that’s all down the future. Lets worry about the election right now, lets get through this election, and get into office. That’s what I’m focused on right now.”
I have been saying this all along but nobody wanted to listen. Tom Corbett is a blazing liberal in disguise, he has now resorted to Democrat talking points such as Bill Clinton’s famous line, “well it depends on what your definition of is, is…” and Nancy Pelosi’s, “We have to pass the bill so we can find out whats inside.” Tom Corbett wants to play stupid word games with his constituency who are the rightful masters of his office should he be elected. Tom Corbett wants us to just turn our heads and elect him so we can find out what he is really made of. He said it himself, his major focus is to get through this election that seems to be an inconvenience for him, and put it behind himself so he can get into office and reign over Pennsylvania. This is a power hungry neo-con and I will not support his breed of liberalism no matter how he presents it. I hope you will join me in writing in “Samuel E. Rohrer”

Well said, Griffin. Tom Corbett CANNOT be trusted to do anything he has said he will do. He is only a puppet of the PAGOP with Rob Gleason being the puppeteer. If Corbett is elected, we, the people of PA, will be in unwelcomed, despicable stuff up to our eyeballs. A write-in vote for SAMUEL E ROHRER, BERKS COUNTY is the only way to provide PA with a governor who is honest, committed to the task at hand, and responsive to the will of the people.
Well said fair play. I wondered if anyone would read this and have some commonsense. Look at the places where TC gets his money from. Who do you think will be directing his spending. I don’t think We The People will be top on the list. Samuel E. Rohrer of Berks County, all the way!
